With a vast array of healthy and unique flavors, The Mixx allows its creative patrons to customize their own fresh salads and sandwiches from an extensive list of over 50 Mixx-ins and ingredients. The Mixx further differentiates itself from most traditional fast-casual restaurants by using real dishes, glass cups and metal flatware, allowing for an enhanced guest experience in an atmosphere that is as hip and colorful as each one of its delectable dishes. By eliminating the use of paper cups and plates and plastic utensils, The Mixx minimizes its carbon footprint and commits itself to sustainability.
Scaglia founded The Mixx in 2005 after a lifetime of love for cooking and restaurants. Having spent 10 years in San Francisco as a high-end caterer, where she quickly became recognized as one of the best in the business, Jo Marie moved back to Kansas City and quickly recognized the area’s void for a much needed option of healthy, delicious and fast-casual cuisine. The Mixx was Jo Marie’s solution.
After four years at her current location in the Plaza Colonnade and becoming a favorite amongst Kansas City epicureans, The Mixx will open its second location in the Kansas City Power & Light District in the fall 2009.
Jo Marie answered that question herself in 2005 when she opened up the Mixx. Every detail was meticulously planned: the color scheme is bright, warm, and cheerful. The space is open and inviting.
And the food. Ultimately, that’s why you’re here. The food is healthy, hearty. delicious. And fast. This is what we like to eat; this is our promise to you.

After turning downs several offers to expand, keeping focus on maintaining quality dining at the original location, Jo Marie was approached with the perfect opportunity to open a second location. The Mixx will be opening in the Power & Light District in Kansas City during the Spring of 2009.
